A leading company in the probiotic industry seeks a Brand Designer to join their creative team in San Francisco. This role focuses on producing high-quality digital assets and supporting the launch of new products, alongside a commitment to making science accessible to consumers. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and have a strong portfolio showcasing versatility in design.
About ZBiotics
At ZBiotics, we make genetically engineered probiotics that improve daily life. As a group of motivated, yet down-to-earth people, we are fueled by two things: a love for science and a commitment to being people-first. GMO products like ours, built to create benefits for people in their daily lives, are the future. As the first to market, we believe it's our duty to set a high bar for product quality, safety, and transparency for others to follow.
In 2019, ZBiotics launched Pre-Alcohol , the world’s first genetically engineered probiotic designed to break down the alcohol byproduct that leads to rough mornings after drinking. In 2024, we launched a genetically engineered probiotic drink mix, Sugar-to-Fiber , that creates fiber from the food you eat. This revolutionary product helps to improve the diversity of gut bacteria and overall gut health.
With a full line of genetically engineered probiotics in development, our team is growing. We’re looking for people as excited as we are to build this new category of consumer products. ZBiotics is headquartered in San Francisco, and backed by venture investors including Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, and Social+Capital, among others.
About the Role
You will report to ZBiotics’ Marketing Creative Director as the second full-time Brand Designer, focusing on executing the day-to-day creative needs of the Marketing team. Your work will center on some of the most exciting aspects of the business, including supporting Pre-Alcohol’s expansion into brick-and-mortar retail and creating digital assets (ads, email designs, landing pages, social media) for our newly launched product, Sugar-to-Fiber. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in visually conceptualizing new product ideas, collaborating with the product development team to help bring innovative concepts to life and gather market feedback—putting you at the forefront of shaping what’s next at ZBiotics
This role is truly multidisciplinary, calling on expertise not only in digital graphic design but also in areas like 3D modeling, print, packaging, and illustration. Depending on your skills and interests, you may also contribute to motion animation, video, and other creative projects as needed.
The Impact You’ll Have
As Brand Designer, you will have the unique challenge of making a product steeped in science and innovative technology accessible to a consumer audience using visual language. This is a hands-on design role that will collaborate with external creators and a tight-knit internal Marketing team with a wide variety of creative needs. Your work will be essential to our growth as a business and a standout brand as your creative will guide every step of the customer journey.
And if that weren’t all, your work will also redefine how American consumers see genetic engineering and GMOs.
