Griffin Funding, Inc. seeks a dynamic Branch Manager to lead the San Diego headquarter and growth strategy. You will own production, headcount planning, and growth, while actively engaging on the floor and helping with tough files.
You will coach a team on non-QM products, DSCR, bank statements, and asset depletion. Relentless focus on pipeline health, recruiting, and performance will define success.
Can you look at a borrower with two years of 1099 income, a 680 score, and a duplex under contract and know within thirty seconds which of our investors will take it?
When one of your loan officers is stuck on a deal at 4:45 on a Friday, do you get on the phone with them or do you send them a link to the guidelines?
Would the people who worked for you at your last company come work for you again?
If those questions land, keep reading.
Griffin Funding is a consumer direct correspondent lender headquartered in San Diego, with branches in Orange County, Scottsdale, and Charlotte. We have been in business for over 13 years. We specialize in non-QM lending, DSCR, bank statement, asset depletion, and 1099 programs, alongside conventional, FHA, and VA.
Our marketing engine brings in fresh first-party leads. Borrowers arrive already familiar with the brand and the five star reviews. That changes the sales conversation. Your team is not cold calling rate shoppers off a rate table. They are talking to people who came looking for us and need someone who can actually structure the loan.
You will lead the San Diego branch, our headquarters office and largest production location. The goal is to grow it past 30 million per month in funded volume and build a team that creates a strong culture inside the office.
This is a working leadership role. You own the production number, the headcount plan, and the growth strategy for the branch. You also sit on the floor, listen to calls, second voice deals, and get involved in the files that need you. The best branch managers here are the ones whose teams are glad they are getting an override, because of what they get back every single day.
Morning. You walk the floor before the leads start hitting. You check the branch scorecard, funded volume month to date, locks, pull through, and where each loan officer sits against their pace. You pull two or three calls from the day before, either yourself or through our AI call scoring, and you look at where the breakdown is. Prospecting, rapport, or the close. Then you sit down with the loan officer who needs the most from you that day and work on it.
Afternoon. A loan officer flags a three million dollar file where the borrower wants to combine asset depletion with bank statement income. You do not know the answer off the top of your head, so you find it. You call the investor, you check Trainual, you ask someone who has done it. You come back with an answer. Later you interview a candidate the recruiting team sourced, you run your one on ones, and you close the day looking at where the pipeline needs attention before the month ends.
You lead from the floor. Your team knows that if you picked up the phone you would outproduce them, and they also know you are not going to, because you would rather they grew.
You have a beginner's mindset. You are not afraid to say you do not know something in front of the people you lead. Non-QM is complex, but it does not have to be complicated. The people who never learn it are the ones who were too embarrassed to ask.
You are curious in the way good negotiators are curious. If you have read Chris Voss, you already know what we mean.
You are a self starter. We will tell you where we are going and expect you to figure out how to get there, using what already works before you reinvent anything.
You care about your people's paychecks. When someone has a bad two weeks, you notice before they tell you.
We are open to candidates relocating to San Diego for this role.
The branch manager role at Griffin is a platform, not a ceiling. As you scale San Diego, your override scales with it. Our model is 30 to 50 people per location rather than 300 in one building, which means the growth path runs through opening and supporting additional locations, regional leadership, and executive sales leadership.
