Job summary

United Rentals in Birmingham, AL seeks a Branch Manager to lead a major operation, hire and motivate a strong team, and drive safety, profitability and customer service.

You will oversee sales initiatives, prepare reports including P&L and budgets, manage personnel and safety compliance, and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers. This role requires strategic leadership and a results-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 5+ years of branch or profit-center management with P&L responsibility.
• Strong sales and customer service experience; outside sales experience preferred.
• Understanding of business accounting and budget preparation.
• Effective leadership, organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office; knowledge of equipment rental industry helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall branch operations to ensure safety, productivity, customer service and profitability.
• Oversee sales efforts and business initiatives.
• Prepare reports including profit and loss statements, monthly operating reviews, yearly budgets and other reports detailing operational status.
• Manage personnel matters.
• Oversee all safety matters including audits, safety training, OSHA compliance, DOT regulations and drug and alcohol testing.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

What you'll do:

• An understanding of business accounting principles and budget preparation

• Strong sales and customer service experience required, outside sales experience preferred

• Effective leadership, motivational, organizational and communication skills

• Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office

• Knowledge and experience in the equipment rental industry preferred

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
