Executive Director – YMCA of Metro Atlanta
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a passionate and forward‑thinking Executive Director to lead branch operations, oversee programming, and advance community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Establish a culture of quality and service to meet strategic objectives set by the Board.
- Represent and promote the Y locally through positive relationships with organizations, businesses, and government entities.
- Develop, manage, and monitor a balanced operating budget to meet or exceed targets.
- Direct high‑quality, relationship‑based member engagement strategies and provide metrics for impact.
- Ensure certifications (CPR, Multimedia First Aid, Blood‑borne Pathogens, staff orientation, emergencies) are maintained.
- Oversee delivery of programs to exceed YMCA standards and objectives.
- Act as lead campaigner for the Why It Matters Annual Giving Campaign, recruiting and training volunteers.
- Serve on the Executive Cabinet and liaise with professional groups and task forces.
- Develop the branch board, recruit members representing the community, and structure committees.
- Drive revenue growth through innovative, member‑focused programming.
- Mentor, supervise, and develop staff and volunteers, building a culture that motivates performance.
- Manage facility maintenance to ensure high‑quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Maintain risk‑management and safety protocols (safety plans, SDS manuals, etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and ≥8 years of overall leadership experience, or high‑school diploma and 12+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of successful experience managing large executive‑level teams.
- Strong business‑management and people‑leadership skills.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Detail‑oriented and passionate about the YMCA mission.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, MVR, and reference check.
- Legal eligibility to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent.
- 12+ years of experience with the YMCA or a closely related non‑profit.
- 4+ years of management experience, strategic vision, and relationship building in a nonprofit setting.
- Hands‑on experience with diverse populations in a YMCA environment.
