Job summary

Select Event Group is seeking a dependable Box Truck Driver to handle delivery, setup and breakdown of tents, stages, floors and related equipment in the Laurel, MD area. The position requires safe driving, a valid DOT license, and the ability to read maps and follow delivery instructions.

You will support foremen and crew on installation and breakdown, maintain safety standards, and provide friendly customer service while adhering to schedules and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Requires DOT license; must pass DOT physical and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Minimum of three years of verifiable driving experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age and able to lift up to 50 lb.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load and secure cargo for transport and installation.
  • Plan trips using maps, GPS, or written instructions.
  • Operate a box truck safely and in accordance with regulations.
  • Deliver, install, and remove tents, stages, flooring, lighting, etc. as needed.
  • Maintain customer service standards during delivery and setup.
  • Adhere to company policies and DOT regulations.

Job Overview

The Tent Driver is responsible for the timely, safe, and efficient delivery of crew, tents and related equipment for our Tents, Structure and Flooring Division. The driver must be able to show a safe driving history, read road signs, and communicate effectively. The driver may be required to stay on site to support foreman and crew with installation and breakdown, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Following the best practices for safety on and off the road
  • Ensures cargo is loaded and secured against movement and damage
  • Comply with all D.O.T. regulations.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions
  • Effectively plans trip using maps, GPS, written or verbal information
  • Properly and safely operate a box truck.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations
  • Be aware of weather conditions on road and plan accordingly
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Offer excellent customer service through friendly and professional service
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures are followed; including wearing and use of safety equipment
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends
  • The ability to adapt to and work well with changing priorities and situations
  • The ability to define and prioritize problems and resolve them quickly
  • Ability to deliver, install, and remove equipment (tents, stages, floors, lighting, etc.) on an as needed basis
Qualifications
  • Must have DOT license, and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening (background check)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety regulations/DOT guidelines
  • Valid drivers license
  • Minimum of three 3 years of verifiable driving experience
  • Safe driving and accident history
  • Should have knowledge of the Maryland, DC and Virginia area
  • Preferred working knowledge of installation/strike procedures for frame tents, pole tents, structures, and other related equipment
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Be familiar with basic hand tools, drill, saw, hammer, etc.
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb.
