Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has an opportunity for a Brake Value Stream Manager, Manufacturing Operations based in Troy, Ohio. This role oversees the Aircraft Brake production line for commercial, military, and regional/business aircraft, reporting to the Troy Site Leader and guiding three operations departments.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.
  • 5+ years experience leading direct reports in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement tools: Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE.
  • Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop production supervisors to support continuous improvement strategies.
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles on the shop floor and ensure standard work.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has an opportunity for a Brake Value Stream Manager, Manufacturing Operations based in Troy, Ohio.

This manufacturing role reports directly to the Troy Site Leader and oversees three operations departments to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations. This leader owns the performance of the Aircraft Brake production line for commercial, military, and regional/business aircraft. This is a high visibility role with regular engagement with senior leadership across Troy and the greater Collins/RTX organization with an opportunity to develop into higher-level manufacturing or site leadership positions.

Success in this role looks like consistent achievement of the Golden Thread, aka Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. At the end of the day, you will lead a skilled, engaged production team with stable, high-performing lean manufacturing processes.

What You Will Do

People

  • Responsible for managing and developing production supervisors to ensure the departments actively support continuous improvement strategies, methodologies and philosophies
  • Ensure processes and systems are in place to drive
  • Consistent performance management
  • Robust onboarding and training of operators and supervisors
  • Core focus on safety and quality
  • Ensure celebrations of ‘wins’ when the area and cells perform
  • Drive cultural transformation toward lean thinking, ownership, and continuous problem-solving.

Lean Manufacturing

  • Drive CORE / Continuous Improvement for daily success by working with the site CI Manager and Manufacturing Engineering Manager and supporting teams.
  • Develop operations supervisors to ensure lean manufacturing principles are fully implemented on the shop floor.
  • Create cells through product/process family alignment
  • Transform Cells to flow / pitch / takt
  • Standard Work (Time based standard work for all functions)
  • Process Confirmation (validation of completion of standard work)
  • Flow (linkage and flow of processes)
  • Resilience (Man and Material in required quantities, SWIP:WIP)
  • Winning vs. Losing (constant visibility of performance to plan)
  • Closed Loop Systems (corrective actions for all losses)
  • Standardization and execution of area and departmental roles, including productivity metrics

Results

  • Determine / monitor / improve KPI’s as established by site and business need
  • Roll up metrics from all ongoing cell projects within the area and departments

Strategy

  • Develop the strategy, plans, and execute all activities related to the Machining, Brake Chemical Operations, and Assembly areas
  • Manage and facilitate the monthly adherence to business objectives
  • Ensure robust root cause and corrective actions (DAISE) where needed
  • Create a culture of accountability, data (for measurement and decisions), and winning
Qualifications You Must Have

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD.
