Position Summary

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a brake press to form parts in accordance with blueprint specifications and work instructions. This effort includes, but is not limited to, attention to detail and be willing to learn how to operate other shop equipment as needed. The work environment is clean, with modern equipment and does not require heavy lifting. This individual works with the entire department to ensure products are being made up to company standards.

Essential Functions
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and work operation sheets to determine appropriate operations to be performed.
  • Sets up brake press in accordance with the print specifications and work instructions.
  • Operates a brake press and runs production in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Utilizes inspection gauges such as calipers (both dial and Vernier), micrometers, squares, and height gauges to perform quality checks on parts.
  • Completes production paperwork and makes required entries into company database.
  • Follows verbal and/or written instructions such as blueprints, traveler, work instruction, process specifications, sketches, and direction from supervisor in completing a variety of machining and inspection tasks.
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role.
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background in metal fabrication is preferred but willing to train.
  • Ability to read blueprints is preferred.
  • Ability to work with +/- .010” tolerances is preferred.
  • Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools is preferred.
  • Clean, organized, and multi‑task capable.
  • Intermediate math skills in geometric and trigonometric formulas are a plus.
  • Flexible, reliable, self‑starting team player with the ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Above average manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Physical Demands
  • Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and capacity to adjust focus.
