Job summary

Vantedge Medical in California is looking for a Brake Operator I. This full-time, on-site role (day shift) offers hourly pay from $22 to $24.

You will perform basic form operations, set-ups, and tool changes under the Brake Lead, measure parts, and keep the Brake Department clean. Ideal candidates have 1 year in precision sheet metal and can read documents and distinguish aluminum from steel.

Qualifications

• Requires 1 year in a precision sheet metal environment with at least 6 months as Brake Operator.
• Ability to read and understand written documents.
• Ability to visually differentiate between aluminum and steel.

Responsibilities

Brake Operator I

Description

Summary

This position is responsible for basic form operations and set-ups.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties as assigned by the Brake Lead.
• Develop operator skills.
• Run out set ups that have been proven, and make minor changes in tooling and machine controller to maintain tolerance on very specific dimensions, as assigned by the Brake Lead.
• Know how to measure dimensions with dial calipers, squares, and protractors.
• Clean department when needed. This can be anything from sweeping, mopping, and wiping down the brakes.
• Help higher‑level operators to stay busy by assisting them with material handling, or assisting them with large parts.
• Move as directed by the Brake Lead to other areas of shop as the workload dictates.
• Helps to keep Brake Department area clean and orderly. Other duties as assigned.
• Ability to make minor adjustments to machines as directed by the Brake Lead, and knowing what some of the duties are before being asked to do them.
• Beginning use of “k” factors.
• Use shop math to perform simple part “back‑checks”.

Requirements

• Requires 1-year working experience in a precision sheet metal environment with a minimum of 6 months as a Brake Operator.
• Requires the ability to read and understand written documents.
• Requires the ability to read and understand written documents.
• Ability to visually differentiate between metal types such as aluminum and steel.
• Know how to use dial calipers, squares and protractor.
• Know how to use a calculator, and basic arithmetic, such as addition subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must know basic third angle projection as it pertains to print interpretation and understand most basic print call outs and notes.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
