Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Design and Release Engineer for Brake Controls Hardware based in Livonia, MI. You will design and release brake control modules and brackets, own all deliverables, and guide suppliers through GPDS processes.

Expect FMEA and Functional Safety analyses, collaboration across chassis, electrical and powertrain teams, and support for testing and simulations. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred), 4 years of relevant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
• 4 years of design or development experience in chassis or powertrain controls.
• Master’s degree preferred in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with FMEA and relatedFailure Mode Avoidance processes.
• Familiarity with vehicle network communication (CAN).
• Self-starter capable of learning new tools and troubleshooting vehicle problems.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
• Interest in bringing new technologies from concept to production quickly.
• Familiarity with CAD tools for design release and validation.
• Experience with complex system analysis tools and methods.

Responsibilities

• Design and release brake control modules and brackets, owning all deliverables.
• Guide supplier partners through GPDS processes.
• Perform FMEA and Functional Safety analyses to mitigate failures.
• Collaborate with chassis controls team to define requirements for advanced brake systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Powertrain and Vehicle Program teams for interfaces.
• Support vehicle and rig testing and Hardware-In-the-Loop simulations.
• Manage system quality, cost and timing for high-quality deliverables.
