Job summary

CBS Therapy is seeking a Full-Time Braille Transcriptionist to transcribe print educational materials into Braille. The role collaborates with TVIs to ensure equal curriculum access for blind and low-vision students, aligning materials with IEP goals and academic curricula.

The position requires LOC Braille Transcriber Certification or UEB Certification and proficiency with Braille software and embossing equipment, supporting timely delivery of accessible classroom resources.

Qualifications

• Library of Congress (LOC) Braille Transcriber Certification or Unified English Braille (UEB) Certification.
• Proficiency with Braille translation software and embossing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Convert print textbooks, worksheets, tests, and classroom handouts into accurate Braille formats.
• Utilize specialized braille translation software and operate embossers to produce high-quality tactile and written materials.
• Review and proofread all transcribed text thoroughly to ensure accuracy, formatting consistency, and readability.
• Meet regularly with special education staff, TVIs, and general education teachers to coordinate material timelines and address student needs.
• Collaborate with the educational team to ensure adapted materials align with IEP goals and curriculum.
• Maintain organized production schedules to ensure timely delivery of accessible materials to the classroom.

• Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs)
