Join to apply for the Braid Machine Operator 2nd Shift role at Judd Wire, Inc.

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a 2nd shift Braid Machine Operator at our Turners Falls, MA facility. The role involves various duties such as measuring, inspecting, testing, and re-spooling wire and cable for shipping or subsequent operations. Comprehensive job training is provided from day one, suitable for all skill levels.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work from orders, customer requirements, requisitions, and verbal instructions regarding wire gauge, number of ends, picks, or crossovers per inch, and footage requirements.
  2. Meet production schedules and work within the BPCS system.
  3. Maintain desired number of ends, mount bobbins on braider carriers, and ensure smooth braiding operations.
  4. Use micrometers to check wire gauges, separate gauges for use, and return unused materials to stock.
  5. Follow SOPs, change take-up reels, and make minor adjustments to equipment for optimal operation.
  6. Perform minor maintenance such as oiling machines, and handle braid ends and bobbins for return or safety.
  7. Know raw material part and lot numbers, and utilize computer systems for inventory management.
  8. Detect and report defective materials, equipment malfunctions, and unsafe conditions.
  9. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic, decimals, fractions, and measurement instruments.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., push, pull, and perform frequent movements.
  • Ability to work in noisy, dusty, hot, or cold environments.
