The Best Western Hood River Inn is seeking a bartender for seasonal banquet and catering shifts in Hood River, OR. You will mix and serve beverages, maintain bar stocks, and ensure guest satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include stocking, cleaning, handling cash, assisting banquet staff, and fulfilling special requests under the direction of the banquet manager. Must be 21+ with basic liquor knowledge and health/compliance cards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in a restaurant is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits with standard drink recipes.

Responsibilities

  • Mixes and serves alcoholic beverages at banquets and catering functions.
  • Maintain guest-first attitude at all times.
  • Stock bar with liquor, beer, wine, glassware, napkins, straws, juices, and garnishes.
  • Clean, detail, and restock bar areas.
  • Total bills and refer patrons to cashier for payment.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Track liquor, beer, wine, pops and juices used.
  • Assist banquet servers and manager when needed.
  • Answer questions and fulfill special requests with banquet manager coordination.
  • Complete side work as required.

Mixes and serves all alcoholic beverages at banquet and catering functions by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions
  • Must possess a guest first attitude.
  • Stocks bar with liquor, beer and wine.
  • Stocks bars with glassware, napkins, straws, juices, and garnishes.
  • Cleans, details and restocks bar areas.
  • Totals bill and refers patron to cashier for payment.
  • Accountable for all cash transactions that are preformed.
  • Accountable for all liquor, beer, wine, pop and juices used.
  • Assist banquet servers and manager when needed.
  • Answers questions, fulfills special requests with coordination of banquet manager.
  • Completes side work.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates behind the bar and may be working near co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Walk and stand during entire shift.
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Frequently wash hands.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Be able to manipulate fingers, hands and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipe.
  • Be able to hear and talk.
  • Good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience working in a restaurant.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Prior experience as a bartender.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Must maintain an applicable state health and/or alcohol compliance card.
