Job summary

Hamilton Southwestern High School in Indiana is seeking an Athletic Coach to organize, supervise and instruct student-athletes in the assigned sport, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development and character.

Reports to the Athletic Director, Principal or Assistant Principal, and will plan practices, teach sport-specific skills, monitor academic eligibility, maintain equipment and keep program records, while modeling professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
• Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsible behavior among student-athletes.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
• Ensure compliance with district policies and IHSAA rules.
• Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, staff, and administration.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program records.
• Model professionalism and positive conduct consistent with district expectations.
• Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
• Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
• Support corporation decisions and direction relative to policy and directives; Work as a team player.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
• Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.

JOB GOAL:
