Responsibilities

• Holds stakeholder meetings for team prospects and encourages participation.
• Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops regular practice schedules and organizes sessions for individual and team development.
• Schedules facilities for practices and competitions with athletics director.
• Assigns duties to an assistant coach as needed.
• Coaches players on rules, equipment and techniques of the sport.
• Observes players to identify needs for improvement.
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintains pupil behavior standards and supervises athletes.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility.
• Follows procedures for athlete injuries.
• Conferences with parents/guardians regarding athletic performance.
• Follows state, regional, and district athletic regulations.
• Models sportsmanship and appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Represents the team and communicates with media, boosters, clubs and organizations.
• Manages equipment, supplies and uniforms; coordinates awards with the athletic director.
• Participates in events such as parent nights, banquets, awards, and pep assemblies.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory and related records.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Attends staff development meetings and other professional activities to improve coaching.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by school administrators.
