Job summary

Asheville City Schools is seeking a dedicated Boys Outdoor Track Head Coach at Asheville High School. The role focuses on developing athletes on and off the track, fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while implementing coaching strategies.

You will oversee practices, game planning, and ensure student-athletes meet academic and behavioral expectations. Responsibilities include coaching and player development, game management, leadership and mentorship, and program development with

Qualifications

High school coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge of track and field strategies and player development.
Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct structured practices to develop fundamental track skills, strategy, and teamwork.
Develop game strategies, review film, and make real-time adjustments during competitions.
Serve as a role model by promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and respect; develop leadership in student-athletes.
Organize and lead off-season training, conditioning programs, and summer camps; engage with youth and middle school programs to create a pipeline.
Coordinate with athletic directors, school administration, and parents; ensure academic eligibility and proper use of facilities and transportation for away games.
