Paycom in San Francisco, CA seeks a part-time Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach for Lick Wilmerding High School. The season runs November 2, 2026–February 12, 2027, with practices weekdays 3:30pm–5:30pm.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior coaching experience in soccer (preferably at the high school or youth level).
• Education: High school diploma required.
• Knowledge: Soccer rules, tactics, and strategies.
• Leadership: Ability to motivate and guide young athletes.
• CPR/First Aid Certification: Must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts.
• CIF Coaching Requirements: Must hold current CIF/NFHS certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts.
• Background Check: Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans focusing on skill development and conditioning.
• Manage JV game day operations, lineups, substitutions, and in-game strategy.
• Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, the athletic director, and staff about expectations and schedules.
• Work with players to develop their skills and game knowledge.
• Evaluate players and support roster movements between JV and varsity.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed and monitor athletes' health and fitness.

Position Summary:

The Soccer season starts November 2, 2026 and runs through approximately February 12, 2027. Teams practice every weekday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on non-game days. The JV Boys Soccer Head Coach is responsible for coaching and managing the junior varsity soccer team. The coach will provide leadership, instruction, and motivation to student-athletes while fostering their development in soccer skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. The coach will work closely with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure alignment in coaching philosophy and program goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and Implement Practice Plans: Create and lead effective practice sessions that focus on skill development, conditioning, and teamwork.
• Game Day Preparation: Manage all aspects of the JV soccer games, including lineups, substitutions, and in-game strategy adjustments.
• Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, the athletic director, and varsity coaching staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
• Work with individual players to develop their skills and knowledge of the game.
• Assess and evaluate players' performance to make roster decisions and support potential movement between the JV and varsity teams.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Ensure all practices and games follow safety protocols and school district policies. Monitor athletes' health and fitness levels.
• Encourage student-athletes to excel academically and monitor their eligibility.
• Assist with the distribution, collection, and care of equipment and uniforms.
• Collaborate with the varsity head coach to align strategies, philosophies, and player development plans.
