Responsibilities

  • Works with athletes during practices, matches, pre-season and off-season conditioning.
  • Assist in team prospect meetings and encourage student participation.
  • Assess skill level and help designate team roles and depth.
  • Develop and organize a regular practice schedule for individual and team development.
  • Coordinate with head coach and athletic director to schedule facilities.
  • Coach players on rules, equipment, and techniques.
  • Observe athletes to identify needs for improvement.
  • Establish standards of behavior and supervise students at all times.
  • Monitor academic performance to ensure eligibility.
  • Follow procedures in case of an injury.
  • Confer with parents/guardians about performance when needed.
  • Follow KSHSAA rules governing the athletic program.
  • Model sportsmanlike conduct toward athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • Follow procedures for weight management, diet, hygiene, and uniforms.
  • Participate in events like parent nights and pep assemblies.
  • Support SHS Girls and Jr. Viking Wrestling club programs.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Seaman USD #345 has an opening for a Assistant Wrestling Coach for the 2026-27 school year.

Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive wrestling techniques to prepare them for competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport of wrestling. This position runs from 11/17/26 to 2/28/27. Candidate must have coaching experience and/or have competed in wrestling.

Essential Duties:
  • 1. Works with athletes during practices, matches, pre-season & off-season conditioning.
  • 2. Assist in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
  • 3. Assesses skill level and assists in determining team designation and depth chart.
  • 4. Helps develop a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • 5. Works with the head coach and athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
  • 6. Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • 7. Observes athletes, during matches and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • 8. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
  • 9. Helps monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • 10. Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
  • 11. Assist in conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
  • 12. Follows KSHSAA rules and regulations governing our athletic program.
  • 13. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • 14. Follows established procedures for weight management, proper diet, hygiene, uniforms, etc.
  • 15. Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • 16. Demonstrates support of our SHS Girls and Jr. Viking Wrestling club programs.
  • 17. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
