Job summary

SkyChefs seeks an experienced driver to operate 16–26 ft box trucks on MSP airfield, loading and transporting catering carts between facility and aircraft. You will ensure safe handling, timely deliveries, and strict adherence to airport procedures.

Requirements include a Minnesota driver’s license with a clean record, ability to pass background checks and drug screens, and handling outdoor conditions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of box truck or straight truck experience.
• Must have valid Minnesota Driver’s License with clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain and maintain airport credentials and security clearance.
• Ability to pass background and pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate high lift box trucks 16–26 ft on airport ramp.
• Load and unload catering carts, equipment between facility and aircraft.
• Raise and lower high lift to aircraft doors for loading.
• Deliver equipment according to flight schedules.
• Maintain on-time performance with safety and accuracy.
• Communicate with flight crews, ramp, transportation and kitchen staff.
• Complete vehicle safety inspections and report concerns.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Safely operate specialized high lift box trucks ranging from 16 to 26 feet on the airport ramp and tarmac.
• Load, transport, and unload airline catering carts, equipment, and supplies between the catering facility and commercial aircraft.
• Safely raise and lower the high lift truck to aircraft doors to support accurate and efficient loading and unloading.
• Deliver and retrieve catering equipment according to flight schedules and operational requirements.
• Maintain on time performance while prioritizing safety and accuracy.
• Communicate effectively with flight crews, ramp personnel, transportation teams, and kitchen employees.
• Complete required vehicle safety inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure equipment is properly secured during transportation.
• Follow all airport safety, security, TSA, and SkyChefs procedures.
• Work safely around aircraft, vehicles, equipment, and other airport operations.

Requirements

• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of one year of box truck or straight truck driving experience.
• Prior experience operating trucks ranging from 16 to 26 feet.
• Ability to safely operate a high lift vehicle in an airport environment.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment while meeting flight schedules.
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated reliability.
• Ability to successfully complete required airport security and background screening.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required airport credentials and security clearance.

Applicants without prior box truck or straight truck driving experience will not be considered for this position. Personal vehicle driving, rideshare or delivery app experience, and forklift only experience do not meet the driving experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Airline catering or airport ramp experience.
• Logistics, trucking, transportation, or warehouse distribution experience.
• Previous experience operating high lift vehicles or supporting aircraft servicing operations.

Schedule/Shift Availability

This is a full-time position with an expected schedule of 40 hours per week.

• Must be available to work early mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Schedules may include 8-to-10-hour shifts based on operational needs.
• Due to the nature of airline operations, flexibility is required to support changing flight schedules and business needs.
• Employees may have the opportunity to bid on available shifts based on seniority. Shift bids generally occur approximately 2 to 3 times per year.
• Early career employees should expect to maintain broad availability as they establish seniority within the operation.
