Job summary

Dufrene Building Materials Inc in Louisiana is seeking an experienced Chauffeur's Driver to deliver lumber, building materials, millworks and other merchandise to customers and company sites. You will plan routes, load and unload items, obtain signatures, and maintain basic delivery records.

Candidates must be at least 21 with a Class D license, medical card, and clean driving record. The role offers competitive pay and benefits, with opportunities for full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Must maintain an active Class D license and Medical Card.
• Ability to drive safely and load/unload deliveries.
• Ability to plan efficient routes and maintain basic logs.

Responsibilities

• Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day.
• Loads delivery vehicle with parcels scheduled for delivery.
• Delivers parcels to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary.
• Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
• Maintains basic records of truck mileage and deliveries made.
• Ensures that delivery vehicle receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor.
• Assists in general warehouse duties when delivery route is completed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day.
• Loads delivery vehicle with parcels scheduled for delivery.

• Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Must maintain an active Class "D" license and Medical Card
• Ability to drive safely.
• Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
• Ability to plan delivery routes.
• Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
• Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
• Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.

Education and Experience

• Valid Class "D" driver’s license, current medical card and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
