Position Summary:

Responsible for safely operating a box truck togesila transport furniture, materials, supplies, and other company items between Vanguard facilities, customers, vendors, and other designated locations. Ensures all deliveries and pickups are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule while providing professional customer service and protecting company property.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate a company box truck safely and responsibly in accordance with all company policies and applicable laws.
  • Complete scheduled deliveries, pickups, transfers, and other transportation assignments.
  • Review delivery schedules, tickets, invoices, and other documentation prior to departure.
  • Verify that furniture, materials, and other items are properly loaded, secured, and protected before transportation.
  • Safely load and unload furniture and other materials using appropriate handling techniques and equipment.
  • Inspect the vehicle before and after each trip and report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, fuel, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation.
  • Obtain required signatures or delivery confirmations and report any discrepancies or delivery issues.
  • Communicate with supervisors, customers, vendors, and other employees regarding delivery schedules and special instructions.
  • Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with customers, vendors, and other locations.
  • Use navigation systems, maps, and delivery instructions to determine efficient travel routes.
  • Ensure furniture and other products are handled carefully to prevent damage during loading, transportation, and unloading.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the truck, cargo area, and assigned equipment.
  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, company, and vehicle safety requirements applicable to the position.
  • Secure cargo appropriately and ensure vehicle doors, liftgates, straps, and other equipment are properly used.
  • Complete required vehicle inspections and immediately report accidents, traffic violations, vehicle damage, or other incidents.
  • Assist with warehouse, shipping, receiving, or other material-handling duties when not making deliveries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Previous experience operating a box truck or other commercial vehicle preferred.
  • Previous delivery, transportation, warehouse, or furniture-handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions.
  • Ability to read and understand delivery tickets, schedules, directions, and other documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately verify products and delivery information.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull furniture and other materials.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work flexible hours based on delivery schedules.
  • Must be able to successfully complete any required driving record review, background check, and pre-employment screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to repeatedly load and unload furniture and other materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to [X] pounds, with assistance or team lifting when necessary.
  • Ability to safely climb in and out of the truck and access the cargo area.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions during loading, unloading, and deliveries.
