Job summary

Delicato Family Wines seeks an experienced bottling operations leader to supervise 24-hour production across multiple lines and packages. You will drive productivity, quality and safety while managing budgets and coordinating with maintenance and QA teams.

The role demands 7 to 10 years in bottling/high-speed packaging, Lean manufacturing expertise, SAP proficiency, and strong leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement and performance accountability.

Qualifications

  • Lean manufacturing problem solving with SAP and Excel data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day bottling operations and team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, ISO, cGMP).
  • Manage budget, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and QA to uphold equipment and process standards.
  • Lead daily/weekly production meetings and performance reporting.
  • Develop staff, coach for GPS performance, and foster a productive culture.

Job description

Under little or no supervision and acting on own initiative, this position is responsible for the 24hr. bottling production performance of multiple lines and packages. This involves multiple essential duties including managing team performance, measuring and communicating productivity, adhering to quality specifications, overseeing process improvements, budget/cost control and partnering with maintenance and Quality Control to ensure the overall condition/operation of equipment, processes and surrounding infrastructure meets all quality standards.

Functional Responsibility
  • Manages and monitors day-to-day operations and team performance to ensure smooth workflows and that company standards are met
  • Manages company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions; encourages strong work ethic and fosters an environment of trust and respect
  • Develops and aligns individual goals with the department's operational goals; ensures that decisions, actions, and priorities are aligned with the company's vision, mission, and strategies
  • Researches best practices, stays abreast of industry trends, and maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
  • Assists in preparing the departmental budget, monitors spending, and directs team in cost-effective operations to ensure adherence to financial objectives
  • Monitors performance and regularly communicates with direct reports to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
  • Partners with immediate manager to determine staffing needs; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve goals and objectives
  • Provides employees with a safe, healthy, and rewarding work environment; ensures delivery and completion of monthly safety topics
  • Communicates and supports change initiatives and decisions in an effective manner to successfully guide team through change
  • Fosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovation
  • Addresses employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner; notifies HR Business Partner and keeps immediate manager informed as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions
  • Coaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies
  • Executes scheduled 24-hour bottling production adhering to wine/package quality, productivity, sanitation compliance and budgetary standards
  • Ensures team is in place, trained and performing at optimal levels to consistently deliver daily bottling production requirements/standard while operating equipment at a skilled level and tracking hourly/daily productivity levels
  • Champions clear communication among teams, peers and across departments to ensure unified direction, efficient process execution, cross-functional collaboration and overall productivity/effectiveness
  • Executes continuous improvement collaboration and champions initiatives that improve bottling processes, equipment performance, production capacity, downtime reduction, package quality and related measures
  • Initiates capital expenditure requests and process improvement activities based on increasing efficiency, productivity and lowering operating costs. Establishes individual line production capabilities and communicates to key stakeholders
  • Enforces Safety, HACCP, ISO, cGMP, DOE, FSSC and other applicable business critical standards
  • Coordinates with accounting and compliance departments to ensure that the bottling staff performs, and records case goods inventory counts and transfers in accordance with TTB and Delicato guidelines
  • Ensures all administrative tasks are accurately completed in a timely manner
  • Initiates daily/weekly production meetings to report productivity and problem solve
  • Maintains a high standard of housekeeping using 5S and other systems as appropriate
  • Supports material testing processes for new product development initiatives

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in business, food science or related field. 7 to 10 years’ experience in bottling or high speed packaging environment. In-depth experience in a fast paced Lean production environment. 5 to 7 years direct leadership and management in beverage or related manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven Lean manufacturing problem solving and related skills, SAP experience. Strong computer knowledge is a prerequisite and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) skills are required with a strong emphasis and track record using Excel for data analysis of equipment efficiencies and related measures. Exposure to SAP desired.

Working Conditions

High percentage of time spent on the production floor exposed to varying levels of equipment noise and temperature fluctuation based on the seasons.

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $91,052.16 to $142,541.76. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
