Job summary

Job description

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, performs line productions and production duties following established procedures in the following areas: Work Orders, Machine Operation, Quality Control, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and prepares filled bottles for packing and shipping.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as bottles, lids, boxes, shrink-wrap or labels.
  • Sets up machine with correct lids, bottles, labels and product.
  • Operates machinery with ability to make minor adjustments or repairs.
  • Starts, stops, or regulates speed of conveyor.
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process.
  • Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
  • Records information such as batch code, time, and date packaged.
  • Responsible for correct count, accurate label placement, batch codes and lids for each bottle.
  • Works from technical data to ensure quality production runs.
  • Moves throughout line to ensure accuracy and verify orders.
  • Assists supervisor in additional duties as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Contributes to department team goals based on productivity, quantity, quality, and accuracy of work.
  • Cross trains and demonstrates competency on all essential job functions of the bottling department.
  • Keeps records of number of items or cartons shipped from the warehouse.
  • Supports and participates in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General mechanical experience and/or knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Permit.
Physical Requirements

While performing duties, employee regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. Employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
