Position Overview:

As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, a fiberglass laminator creates components for boats applying fiberglass to a mold. The fiberglass laminator ensures that all areas of the mold are covered in a sufficient amount of resin-saturated, fiberglass matting to provide the desired strength of the finished component, using a tool called a chop gun or hands to press the resin-saturated, fiberglass matting into the mold. Once the fiberglass is sprayed/laid onto the mold it is then pressed out to remove all of the air bubbles and air pockets from the fiberglass matting so that the mold can produce a solid sheet of fiberglass. When it is a 2-part mold, spacing blocks will need to be strategically placed and one mold will be inserted into the other. Mixing the resins and removing the cured product from the mold, are tasks to be included within this position.
