Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced MEP/Fire Protection Engineering Manager to lead our Boston building engineering practice. You will build and guide a high‑performing team, expand local MEP capabilities, and lead major pursuits with top clients across transportation, education, and government sectors.

The role combines technical leadership with staff development, client service, and strategic planning to drive sustainable, high‑performance building design in Boston and beyond.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience on multi‑disciplinary projects.
• 2+ years of HVAC or mechanical team leadership experience.
• PE license in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional U.S. states.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow AECOM’s building engineering practice in Boston, balancing technical excellence, team development, client service, and business performance.
• Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand local MEP capabilities and build an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Drive major project pursuits—both stand‑alone MEP/FP work and as part of larger multi‑discipline teams.
• Act as technical leader and quality reviewer across a range of project sizes and complexities, creating an environment where engineers can do their best work.
• Serve as design manager on complex projects with significant engineering scope, working closely with project managers to deliver high quality documents.
• Lead interdisciplinary coordination/quality reviews and ensure engineering standards are met.
• Coach, mentor and develop engineers at all career stages, helping them achieve technical, professional, and leadership goals.
• Manage forecasting, resource planning, and staff performance, including goal‑setting and annual reviews for mechanical department; assist the electrical department manager to do the same.
• Represent AECOM to clients, participate in interviews, and help craft winning proposals.
• Provide technical vision and thought leadership for mechanical engineering across the Boston practice.
