Job description

Job Title: Boring Operator I

Locations: Irvine, PA, with occasional assignments to Corry/Warren plants that may be awarded in the near future.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Operate various types of conventional metal-cutting and related processing machines and equipment, including hydro tracers and digital readouts.
  2. Handle machines such as turning lathes, boring lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, grinders, and saws for steel forged products.
  3. Plan and execute setups, layouts, and work according to specifications, blueprints, drawings, and instructions.
  4. Determine operation sequences, select speeds, feeds, and cutting tools based on material and finish requirements.
  5. Use special fixtures, counterbalances, and counterweights to position and secure products, ensuring tolerances.
  6. Operate overhead and radio-controlled cranes as required.
  7. Follow all plant safety rules.
  8. Maintain high quality standards in all work performed.
  9. Keep accurate reports and records as required.
  10. Train others in machinery operation within the Machine Shop classifications/groups.
  11. Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines.
  12. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  13. Perform other routine labor tasks as assigned to support production flow.
  14. Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  15. Work rotating shifts, including 24/7 schedules, with mandatory overtime when necessary.
  16. Maintain regular attendance as scheduled, which is an essential function.
