Job Summary:

Lead and supervise directional drilling operations for underground utility installations. The successful candidate will coordinate drilling operations, ensure safety protocols are followed, maintain project timelines and budgets, and manage a team of drilling professionals while upholding our company's core values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of directional drilling projects, ensuring efficient and safe installation of underground infrastructure
  • Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) before beginning construction and enforce safety protocols throughout operations
  • Train, mentor, and supervise crew members on proper job skills, procedures, and techniques
  • Develop and maintain bore schedules to ensure timely project completion within budget constraints
  • Utilize utility locators and coordinate with locating services to identify and avoid underground utilities
  • Create effective plans for navigating around existing utilities and obstacles
  • Manage site setup, operations, and cleanup including proper restoration of disturbed areas
  • Operate directional drills and related equipment with expertise and safety awareness
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop solutions to ensure smooth project execution
  • Maintain accurate documentation including time cards, daily production reports, and project records
  • Communicate effectively with management, team members, contractors, and customers

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in directional boring operations
  • Proven supervisory experience in underground utility installation
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Strong understanding of underground utility systems and construction practices
  • Experience with directional drilling equipment and locating technology
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
