Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO) to help secure the nation’s borders.

The role includes enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws, and conducting inspections of people and conveyances to determine admissibility for entry into the United States. Positions range from entry to mid-level with potential for promotion and attractive federal benefits, including health and retirement plans, leave and Thrift Savings Plan options.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CBP laws, regulations and procedures relevant to border security.
• Ability to apply regulations for entry determinations and enforcement actions.
• Experience or capacity to perform inspections and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances for compliance.
• Determine admissibility of applicants seeking entry into the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry of people and contraband and deter smuggling.
