Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for an entry to mid-level federal law enforcement career. The position offers solid base pay, full federal benefits, and job stability across numerous duty locations nationwide.

Selections at GL-5/7/9 or GS-11 levels with recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000 are available. Training and career progression are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or equivalent combination including coursework or training.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• Experience and education combination may qualify for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents and possessions.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and patrol techniques.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol borders and waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, and off-road assets.
