Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol offers full-time positions as Border Patrol Agents across the United States, with competitive base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and incentives for recruitment and retention.

New BPA hires may receive incentives up to $20,000, plus additional retention incentives. Eligible candidates may qualify at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels, with multiple duty locations nationwide and extensive training at the Border Patrol Academy.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• A combination of general work experience AND college education may qualify, evaluated via resume/transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night-vision scopes.
• Interpret and follow tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets to accomplish CBP mission.
