• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders using surveillance and night-vision gear.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry, and performing various patrol and checks.
