Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) for full‑time, entry and mid-level positions. Base pay varies by grade with solid federal benefits and potential recruitment/retention incentives, including up to $20,000 in initial incentives and up to $30,000 in additional incentives over three years.

Prior experience in public safety or law enforcement may qualify. Duty locations span numerous sectors nationwide.

Qualifications

• 1 year of general work experience demonstrating decision making and composure in stressful situations.
• A bachelor’s degree or four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify for the role.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders.
• Maintain surveillance using various methods and assets for border enforcement.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform patrols and checks across farms, buildings, traffic, and transportation areas.
