Job summary

Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry to mid-level career roles. Base pay ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 per year, with federal benefits, leave, and a Thrift Savings Plan. Selected applicants may receive recruitment incentives and retention incentives, plus academy training in Artesia, NM.

Duty locations across the U.S. offer prioritized postings and opportunities in a dynamic national security mission.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of experience and education as resume and transcripts submitted with the application.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling borders and waterways using various assets to accomplish the USBP mission.
