Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents to secure the nation’s borders and enforce federal laws.

Duties include patrolling borders, detecting and detaining violators, and performing inspections in remote areas across the Northern and Southern borders. Selected candidates undergo approximately six months of paid training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, with opportunities for additional incentives after training and potential relocation to assigned duty

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and residency requirements must be met.
• One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree.
• Ability to meet federal hiring and qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned border areas to detect and prevent illegal entry.
• Identify and apprehend individuals violating immigration laws.
• Conduct surveillance, questioning, and examinations.
• Gather information through observation and records.
• Respond to border-security and immigration violations.
• Operate law-enforcement equipment and vehicles.
• Prepare reports and maintain records.
• Collaborate with other agencies during operations.
• Make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• Relocate to duty locations as needed.
