Salary levels are GL-5 or GL-7, with promotion potential to GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12. Pay depends on completion of pre-employment processes and is based on 2025 OPM Salary Tables.
You will select your preferred duty location from various sectors across the U.S. Certain locations qualify for an additional $10,000 incentive, requiring a three-year service commitment. Locations include Presidio, Sanderson, Sierra Blanca, and others listed in the original description.
Applicants must undergo a polygraph exam, complete intensive training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM, and meet age, firearm, and background requirements. The position requires carrying a firearm, speaking/readings Spanish and English, and adhering to grooming standards. Certain criminal backgrounds disqualify applicants.
Qualify at the GL-5 level with one year of general experience or education. For GL-7, specialized law enforcement experience or related education is required. Must be a U.S. citizen, pass medical and fitness exams, and meet residency and other legal requirements.
