Job summary

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a reliable Bookstore Associate to assist with daily store operations. You will manage in-store sales, exchanges and returns using the POS system, provide excellent customer service, and help with online store maintenance and order fulfillment.

The role combines front-line retail with behind-the-scenes inventory and website tasks, requiring at least a high school diploma and one year of retail experience, preferably in a bookstore.€�

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of retail experience required, bookstore preferred.
• Knowledge of POS cash register system is beneficial.
• Strong customer service and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, email, and internet.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS system for sales, exchanges and returns.
• Deliver excellent customer service.
• Open/close store following procedures.
• Reconcile receipts daily.
• Handle and unpack book cases weighing 30–50 lbs.
• Maintain stock of books, clothing and gifts, and fold/arrange merchandise.
• Keep store clean and merchandise organized.
• Assist with inventory: restocking, labeling, pricing, tracking stock.
• Run off-campus errands: banking, supplies.
• Research and recommend new book titles to purchase.
• Maintain and update web store: add/remove items, inventory, pricing, descriptions, styles; fulfill online orders.
