Job summary

Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Inc. is seeking a friendly Barista to join our café team in a busy bookstore environment. You will welcome customers, take orders, operate registers, and help keep the café clean, organized and well stocked with fresh beverages and bakery items.

You will learn our recipes, assist with deliveries and merchandising, follow FIFO practices, and support the bookfloor team as needed. This role offers training, growth toward Senior Barista, and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Prolonged standing, bending, lifting and walking are required.
• Willingness to learn new skills and knowledge.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work well with others and provide cheerful customer service.
• Support across café operations including stock, deliveries and merchandising.

Responsibilities

• Use registers, computers, tablets and related tools proficiently.
• Maintain café presentation with merchandising and cleanliness.
• Perform visual merchandising of counter and floor fixtures.
• Operate a register to serve customers quickly and accurately.
• Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries and inventory.
• Prepare food and drinks accurately using recipes and guidance.
• Keep café clean via daily and weekly tasks.
• Follow FIFO and date products consistently.
• Support the bookfloor team when needed.
• Understand and follow loss prevention and de-escalation practices.
