Job summary

Barnes & Noble, Inc. in Orland Park, IL is seeking a Bookseller to join our busy bookstore team. You will warmly greet customers, help them find titles, and connect readers with the right products while maintaining neat displays.

You may unpack deliveries, shelve items, and operate the register to ensure quick, friendly service. As you grow, you’ll master store operations, merchandising, and knowledge across genres, while supporting the cafe and loss-prevention procedures.

Qualifications

• Maintain reliable and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts.
• Fill scheduling gaps when you are able, being flexible and responsive to the needs of the store — we are open from early mornings to late evenings every day, including weekends and most holidays.
• Are positive and willing in your approach to work, performing assigned tasks with purpose and energy, working hard and reliably.
• Are supportive and considerate of colleagues, going out of your way to help others on the team and showing them kindness.
• Are always cheerful with customers, consistently going out of your way to help them.
• Show aptitude and willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge in the store.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and connect readers with the right titles and products.
• Maintain attractive store presentation and ensure efficient running of the store.
• Unpack deliveries and shelve products, tidy displays, and assist with merchandising.
• Operate registers in a quick and friendly manner to provide professional service.
• Support receiving and shelving of deliveries and collaborate with the cafe team as needed.
