Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a motivated Bookseller to deliver an engaging customer experience on the sales floor and at the register. You will help customers find books, recommend reads, and complete transactions in a fast-paced retail setting.

The role emphasizes great communication, teamwork with store leadership, and a readiness to jump in across duties to keep the store welcoming and well-organized.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Must pass all required background screenings.
• Love of books with curiosity to learn about products and authors.
• Excellent communication and genuine customer interactions.
• Ownership mindset with initiative and organization.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Comfort with technology and transactions, using computers and cash registers.

Responsibilities

• Welcome every customer with warmth; help them discover what they’re looking for and make checkout quick and accurate.
• Drive sales by highlighting benefits and programs that add value to the customer experience.
• Create inviting displays and follow merchandising guidelines to keep tables and shelves fresh and inviting.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming sales floor; return items to place and assist with inventory housekeeping.
• Handle transactions with integrity; follow loss prevention standards and protect customers and company.
• Be flexible across departments; assist with buyback, receiving shipments, and fixture maintenance.
