Job summary

Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York seeks a Books and Manuscripts Department coordinator to support live and online sales, coordinate catalogues, and assist with large-scale appraisals. You will work with specialists and consultants to ensure accurate, timely cataloging and valuation workflows.

Responsibilities include provenance research, catalogue note writing, ADM data entry, and coordinating with Central Receiving and Photo to prepare consignments for sale, while maintaining excellent

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in an auction house or dealer setting.
• Knowledge of a classical language is preferred.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Assist with evaluation of works for auction and appraisal purposes.
• Work with specialists on valuations and follow up on property that has been estimated but not yet consigned.
• Assist in securing consignments, including client correspondence and preparation of estimates.
