Job summary

Harnett County Schools seeks a librarian for the Bookmobile program to provide services, plan programs, and coordinate outreach from Boone Trail Headquarters. You will supervise staff, manage route schedules, select materials, and maintain records and budget compliance.

The role requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, NC Public Library Certification within a year, and experience with bookmobiles or supervision is preferred. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• MLS in library science from an ALA-accredited program.
• North Carolina Public Library Certification within one year of employment.
• One year of bookmobile experience preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Notary Public Certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Bookmobile and operate it safely in a rural setting.
• Develops and maintains the Bookmobile route schedule with time management.
• Loads, unloads, and maintains books, materials, and equipment daily.
• Provides reference services to patrons in person and by phone.
• Directs and supervises Bookmobile staff, including hiring and training.
• Plans and delivers library programs, events, and outreach activities.
• Maintains program records and attendance reports.
• Develops and administers the Bookmobile budget and purchases.
