Job description

Hourly Wage: $18.23/Temporary/Full-Time

Employee will be responsible for the financial management of federal contracts and associated accounts including contract compliance, and maintenance. Bookkeeping duties include all elements of contract administration to include reconciling ledgers, expenditure tracking, cuff accounting and preparing financial documents. Financial documents include monthly and quarterly reports, purchase orders, journal entries, and travel authorizations. This position also includes standard clerical duties including the preparation, processing, routing and filing of correspondence, timesheets, personnel and related documents. Position is very sedentary and requires strong work ethics.

  • Prepares and processes monthly and quarterly reports in accordance with P.L. 93-638 requirements.
  • Maintains accurate financial records to meet audit standards.
  • Reconciles ledgers and maintaining cuff accounts to track expenditures. Reads, interprets, and compares Central Accounting reports to the Fuel Program cuff account to ensure accuracy.
  • Verifies accuracy of financial data with ability to detect, correct errors and inconsistencies.
  • Helps develop budgets and process modifications, amendments and journal entries.
  • Processing payments to contractors and vendors.
  • Prepares purchase orders, travel authorization, timesheets, and personnel documents to include payroll actions and leave audits.
  • Responsible for maintaining and keeping filing system current.
  • Responsible for correspondence including memorandum letters and reports.
  • Maintains individual personnel files for all program temporary, seasonal, furlough, and full-time employees.
  • Completes necessary forms to record workplace injuries and vehicle accidents and coordinates reporting incidents to Tribal Insurance.
  • Maintains current inventory of program supplies and equipment with periodic verification.
  • Handles two-way radio communication as project dispatcher during prescribed fire operations.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 accounting software.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, theories, concepts, terms and proficiency in general bookkeeping.
  • Ability to generate travel advance obligations, purchase orders, and various reports.
  • Ability to use standard software for word processing, accounting including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn Natural Resource terminology related to Forestry and Prescribed Fire.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, agency employees, tribal contractors and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have high school diploma.

Preferred Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Willing to participate in Prescribed Fire Operations in a variety of supporting roles including night and weekend involvement from time to time.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
