The Dental Entrepreneur Organization (DEO) is a fast-growing membership organization that supports entrepreneurial dentists and their leadership teams. With 400+ member practices nationwide, we are expanding our financial services arm to provide bookkeeping and accounting support directly to dental practices.

Position: Contract Bookkeeper (Remote)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Contract Bookkeeper to partner with our Finance team. In this role, you will provide bookkeeping services to dental practices as an independent contractor, ensuring accurate, timely financial records that help our clients run their practices more effectively. You’ll collaborate closely with our Controllers, CFOs, and Finance Managers to support day-to-day bookkeeping and month-end reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple dental practices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  • Record daily transactions, including patient collections, accounts payable, payroll postings, and credit card expenses.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations monthly.
  • Post payroll entries, including wages, taxes, 401(k), and health insurance benefits.
  • Track and categorize expenses, ensuring accuracy and consistency with dental practice operations.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and month-end close for client practices.
  • Maintain organized documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Communicate with clients as needed to obtain missing information or resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (experience with dental or healthcare practices strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO certification a plus).
  • Strong understanding of payroll, benefits posting (401k, health insurance), and expense categorization.
  • Ability to manage multiple client files/entities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools (Google Workspace, Keeper, Bill.com, Gusto, or similar).
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong written/verbal communication.
  • Self-starter who can meet deadlines while working independently in a remote team environment.
Education
  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent hands-on bookkeeping experience will be strongly considered.
  • QuickBooks Online certification preferred.
