Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper in Iowa to deliver accurate bookkeeping, payroll processing, and client service. You will post transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements for diverse clients.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, proficiency with Xero, and knowledge of GAAP. You will work independently within a franchise office and support client retention and growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
