Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll, and client service. You will be integral to providing help and inspiring confidence in our communities.

Responsibilities include posting transactions, reconciling accounts, generating financial statements, and handling payroll, 1099s, and W2s. You will communicate with clients and vendors while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Proven bookkeeping experience and understanding of GAAP.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Detail-oriented with confidentiality and discretion.
• Knowledge of payroll and tax reporting processes.

About The Role

Joining H&R Block1 as an experienced Bookkeeper, you’ll deliver exceptional bookkeeping, payroll and customer service. You’ll be an integral part of delivering on our brand purpose to provide help and inspire communities everywhere.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers
• Reconcile and balance accounts
• Generate and analyze financial statements
• Prepare and process payroll
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Xero accounting software

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or the ability to successfully obtain certifications
• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles & procedures
• Ability to correctly interpret and apply complete instructions, policies and regulations
• Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Analytical skills and an eye for details
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently
