Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining accurate and timely financial records, including sales, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll (multiple employees), invoicing, commissions, daily journal/financial entries, and bank reconciliations using provided software.
- Preparing monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient completion of client work while fostering a productive team environment.
- Assisting with tax preparation and lodgement, ensuring compliance with the Australian Tax Office.
- Providing documentation and support for audits as needed.
- Reviewing and improving internal business processes for clients and suggesting new software solutions.
- Responding to management inquiries regarding financial data.
- Maintaining strong interpersonal skills to connect with clients and team members.
- Educating clients and managing relationships effectively.
- Following checklists and training materials to attain expertise in Australian bookkeeping.
Experience, Skills Required, and Other Requirements:
- Ability to work variable hours from home with a quiet environment and high-speed internet (minimum 30Mbps).
- Proven experience in resolving technical accounting and bookkeeping issues.
- Strong technical knowledge in accounting disciplines, including bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Self-discipline to stay updated on industry developments and address training needs.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or Cert IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping, and/or Cert III in Business Administration.
- Experience working for several years at a BPO or outsourced provider of bookkeeping staff to Australian clients.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax.
- Expertise in cloud-based accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Dext), and familiarity with Karbon or Cone Practice Management software or similar.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- CA / CPA is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills in English are highly regarded.
