O2 Employment Services is partnering with a water district to recruit a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant based in Redding, CA. The role handles daily accounting, reconciles the general ledger, prepares journals and financial reports, and supports budgeting activities.

You will interact with staff and management, maintain accurate records, assist with audits, and handle utility billing tasks. The position offers health/vision/dental insurance and company perks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and fiscal controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other office software.
• Experience with accounting or utility billing software preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and the public.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in financial records.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily accounting and bookkeeping functions
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, revenue, and expenditures
• Prepare monthly journals, financial reports, and account reconciliations
• Assist with budget preparation and financial projections
• Support quarterly reviews and annual audits with outside auditors
• Perform accounts payable functions and financial record keeping
• Prepare financial statements and reports for management review
• Assist with Board meeting materials and record meeting minutes
• Provide customer assistance related to utility billing
• Maintain accurate financial records and support long-term financial planning
