Job summary

A Catholic Church organization in Mount Clemens, Michigan, is seeking a full-time Parish Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will coordinate all accounting aspects, maintain financial records, and prepare payroll and financial reports. An Associate’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 2 years of experience are required, along with experience in a parish setting preferred. Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, and accounting software is also necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in a Catholic Parish with a school is preferred.
  • Candidate must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement all aspects of accounting for the parish.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial ledgers.
  • Prepare staff payroll and maintain payroll systems.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and year-end financial reports.

Job description

Position Summary: St. Peter Catholic Church, Mt. Clemensis looking for a Parish Bookkeeper to join our staff. The perfect candidate will have excellent communication skills, an ability to work cooperatively in a mission-driven team environment,as well as having technical expertise.This is a full-time position.

The parish Bookkeeper is a key position responsible for coordinating and implementing all aspects of accounting for the parish. The bookkeeper maintains accurate and current accounting records and other financial ledgers of the parish and school, working closely with other members of the business office team, including the Business Manager and Tuition Coordinator. The bookkeeper assures the maintenance of the parish payroll system and preparation of staff payroll including proper deductions, and payment of taxes and benefits. Additionally assists the Business Manager in the preparation of the monthly financial reports, maintains administrative records, and handles the year-end financial report preparation for the Archdiocese of Detroit, parish community, pastor and finance council.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Experience working in a Catholic Parish with a school is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Google Email/Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, and Sage Intacct accounting software.
  • Experience working with Paycor, and FACTS Tuition Management System preferred
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality handling highly sensitive material
  • Candidate must pass a background check and complete the Protecting God’s Children program
