Job summary

Aline Accounting Partners in Connecticut is seeking a senior bookkeeper to manage monthly accounting for multiple clients, including reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.

You will handle month-end closes, prepare financial statements, file sales tax and payroll taxes, and help improve workflows. Strong client communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or client accounting experience, preferably in a CPA or public accounting environment.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing the monthly books for multiple clients.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly accounting and bookkeeping for multiple clients, including reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, ensuring accounts are accurate and complete.
• Manage month-end close activities and support year-end close for assigned clients.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns.
• Process payroll, prepare and file payroll tax returns, and assist with payroll-related accounting as needed.
• Review client accounts, identify discrepancies, and resolve routine accounting issues.
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, resolve outstanding items, and provide accounting support.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting records across multiple client engagements.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to improve workflows, standardize processes, and increase efficiency.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with firm procedures, accounting best practices, and established deadlines.

In this role, you will:

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or client accounting experience, preferably in a CPA or public accounting firm environment
• Demonstrated experience independently managing the monthly books for multiple clients
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation
• Experience with month-end close, sales tax filings, payroll processing, payroll tax filings, and payroll-related accounting
• Ability to identify accounting discrepancies and resolve issues with limited supervision
• Proven ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and competing priorities
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including experience working directly with clients
