A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Bonneville High School for a General Night Custodian. This position is for 8.00 hours per day, 257 days (12 months) per year and is compensated according to Lane 1 of the Custodial Salary Schedule. This position is eligible for benefits and retirement. The hours for this position are 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM.

Purpose Statement:
The purposes of the job of General Night Custodian are to:
- Create an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and the public;
- Provide equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events;
- Minimize property damage, loss, and liability exposure; ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner and overseeing and supporting assigned part-time custodians in the performance of their assignments.
Essential Functions:
- Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and special events.
- Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, restrooms, grounds, snow removal, graffiti, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Distributes a variety of items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties.
- Inspects facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site meets district standards for safety and cleanliness, and/or identifying vandalism, equipment breakage, weather damages.
- Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.
- Performs maintenance and repairs (e.g., replace ballasts, outlets, locks, change light bulbs, replace washers, oil doors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient use of facilities.
- Performs summer maintenance (e.g., strips/waxes floors, moves furniture, painting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the site is ready for the coming school year.
- Repairs furniture and equipment (e.g., sharpening mower blades, changing oil, filters, replacing cords, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns including after hours (e.g., facility damage, injured and ill students, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.
- Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability.
- Supports assigned site administrators (e.g., monitor students, after-hours school, community functions, reports smoking in halls, assists police, etc.) for the purpose of assisting them in their work activities.
Other Functions:
- Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Monitors students for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive school environment and/or supervising student workers.
Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities):
- Skills are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills include operating equipment used in industrial maintenance; adhering to safety practices; managing personnel; handling hazardous materials; planning and managing projects; and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge is required to perform basic math, understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; as well as understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge includes methods of industrial cleaning and safety practices and procedures.
- Abilities include scheduling activities, collating data, working with others, working with data utilizing specific processes, and operating equipment using standardized methods. Ability to communicate with diverse groups; adapt to changing work priorities; meet deadlines; and work as part of a team.

Working Environment:
The job requires physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The typical work distribution is 5% sitting, 80% walking, and 15% standing. The job may involve working under temperature extremes and hazardous conditions.
Experience:
Job-related experience within a specialized field with increasing responsibilities is required.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
