West Star Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for the weekend shift in Chattanooga, TN. The role includes performing mechanical tasks, engine work, and inspections on civilian aircraft with a Friday–Sunday schedule, 6am–6:30pm, plus a shift differential and benefits starting on day one.

The position requires airframe or powerplant licenses with varying experience levels and a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork in a hangar environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a valid driver’s license approved for airline travel is ideal but not mandatory.
  • Airframe or Powerplant licenses are required; Airframe license is preferred.
  • Knowledge of English and basic computer skills to navigate training materials and maintenance databases.

Responsibilities

  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues.
  • De-fueling aircraft.
  • Engine removal and installations.
  • Operating ground support equipment.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs or taxiing.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.

Your Education
  • A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Your Experience
AMT I
  • Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar.
  • These technicians have limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance aspects
  • Technicians require close supervision of general maintenance tasks
Amt Ii
  • Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience working in aviation maintenance
  • Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential.
  • These technicians have considerable knowledge of the job and general maintenance aspects.
  • Technicians require general supervision on routine maintenance and more detailed instruction for new or special assignments.
Amt Iii
  • Airframe license is required; in addition, Powerplant license is highly preferred
  • 4-6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance
  • Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential.
  • These technicians have full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments in aircraft maintenance
AMT IV (Master)
  • Airframe and Powerplant license is required.
  • 6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance
  • Must have extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms
  • Subject matter expert in all areas of the job

Physical Requirements
  • Lifts 50 lbs.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.

May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
  • Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
